COLLECTION PROCESSES
OUR COLLECTION PROCESS
- Small quantities of donated hardware can be brought to one of our collection points.
- For larger quantities, our logistics coordinator will make an appointment with you and our Veenendaal volunteer team will drive to your location with our van to collect the items.
- After arrival at our warehouse our volunteer team registers all items in our inventory system. We will send you a unique code by email which will allow you to follow your items on their journey to an African school.
- We test all items and check them with our list of desired electronics (you can find these specifications HERE). Defective or obsolete materials will be sent to recycling and registered as “removed”. We have a good collaboration with a certified recycling company in Ede, Road2Reuse.
- All data are professionally removed with the DBAN software, whereafter we will send you a PDF confirming this step for your audit trail.
- Depending on inventory levels, we regularly ship sets of electronics to our partners in West-Africa. We ship larger quantities in containers, assisted by professional humanitarian logistics partners such as Mission and Relief Logistics in Zevenhuizen.
- Once in Africa, the computer equipment will be deployed in school projects. These projects are integrated multi-annual programs that include training of teachers on use of multimedia and interactive teaching methods. Teachers are also taught how to work with computers and how to maintain them.
- Follow up is provided during three years after the original installation. We help the schools maintain their equipment in working condition and provide replacement items where necessary.
